Sunday, November 4, 2007, HAGC features "A Conversation with Congressman John Conyers " U.S House Judiciary Committee Chair
HAGC will along with ACLU will host on Sunday, November 4, 2007, at 4:00 pm a symposium. "A Conversation with Congressman John Conyers" will be featured at the University if Miami Business School Storer Auditotrium, Coral Gables, Florida. Conyers, the Chair of the JUdiciary Committee, is a staunch civil liberties advocate and is the one who compelled the United Justice DEpartment Officials in 2002 to unveil the secret Bush Administration indefinite detention policy vis-a-vis Haitian Nationals seeking refugee status in the United States.
The Congressman will talk on hotly debated issues in the U.S Congress such as immigration reform, the Patriot Act Act, the DREAM Act, protected status for Haitian Nationals and other issues.

On September 17, 2007, the Haitian-American Grassroots Coalition (HAGC) filed civil suit against the State of Florida- HAGC contesting the Florida State Law No Match - No vote
Florida has failed to match potential voters with current data base system being serviced by Social SEcurity ADministration which has admitted that in the past they were unable to mtach 46% of the request to match names of potential voters with their social security numbers.
